Care Home Service
The Care Home has 28 self-contained, modern en-suite bedrooms providing a mixture of residential and nursing care according to clients’ needs. A further 2 bedrooms are available for the provisions of Intermediate Care working in partnership with NHS Highland. The service operates on a 24hour seven day a week basis giving a very high standard of care to all our clients.
Our Day Care Centre caters for 10 clients daily Monday to Friday. It is open to all members of our local community particularly those, but not exclusively, with assessed needs through Health & Social Care - Private Clients are welcome. There are a diverse range of activities at our Day Care Centre and we endeavor to meet the preferences, interest and needs of all those who attend.
Lunch Club is open to all of the community and Abbeyfield Ballachulish operates a bus service to pick up and drop off clients attending within the villages of Onich, Ballachulish and Glencoe. As part of our community involvement Lunch Club members are encouraged to participate on all activities taking part within the facility.
As well as our 24 hours nursing services Abbeyfield Ballachulish provides medical support services through a range of clinics. These are for podiatry, dietary and hearing impairment services. All our clients have, where appropriate, ready access to other services as well, which include Care & Repair services, Occupational Health and aids and equipment. We also run diabetic and mental health clinics which, where necessary, are held with the support of a video conferencing facility which offers live links to hospital clinics and consultants.
The local General Practitioner surgery is within walking distance of the building and offers a dispensing service when required. Community nursing services are located in the building and support the nursing services provided to our residential clients and those attending from the community to Day Care and Lunch Club services.
Abbeyfield Ballachulish prides itself in offering the opportunity for all of its clients to be engaged in purposeful social interaction. Activities are constant and varied with something for everyone. Through fundraising we have been able to acquire two mini-buses that support outings and visits both near and far.
Visitors are always made welcome and our volunteers support and engage with those who require companionship or assistance. Closer to home and indoors we hold lots of activities including church service, drama, music, keep fit, art classes, themed evenings, to name just a few.
Our experienced and caring staff are trained to provide 24-hour individual care, at all times fostering choices, independence, privacy, and dignity. The environment offers a friendly, informal atmosphere with the provision of home cooked, nutritious meals in the dining room or, if preferred, within your own room. All dietary requirements are catered for with regular input through focus groups to ensure choices are met.
Visitors and relatives are welcome at all times and invited to enjoy and participate in focus groups, activities or social events taking place within the home.
The Home owns a minibus enabling Residents to enjoy social events and frequent outings, including visits to Fort William for shopping, shows, exhibitions, or more locally organised events.
